ESTABLISHMENT OF THE BOARD

THE BOARD OF MUNICIPALITY

The Board of the Municipality shall be a Corporate Body with perpetual succession and a common seal and shall in its own corporate name be capable of2:-

a) Suing and being sued;

b) Taking, purchasing or otherwise acquiring, holding, charging or disposing of movable and immovable property;
c) Borrowing money or making investments within the limits imposed by law

d) Entering into contracts; and

e) Doing or performing all other Acts or things for the proper performance of its functions in accordance with the Urban Areas and Cities Act or any other written law which may lawfully be done or performed by a body corporate

    Municipality News - Urban Planning

    After putting in place measures that fully worked on implementation of the urban planning Act; Zoning regulations and enforcement of compliance by all buildings in town, the County government of Uasin Gishu has realized an uplift such that there have been talks going round about  Eldoret  town being elevated to City status.

    The County Government through the department of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development intends to partner with  National Social Security Fund (Kenya) National Housing Corporation  and other housing institutions to redevelop the old municipal council houses to modern storey buildings that will optimize on land use.

    UASIN GISHU SET TO RECEIVE URBAN DEVELOPMENT GRANTS

    Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson K. Mandago EGH, Thursday hosted a delegation from ACAL consulting at his offices. The team is in the county to hold meetings in collaboration with the County Department of Lands, Housing and Urban Planning for purposes of assessing Uasin Gishu’s progress in the implementation of the World Bank Funded Kenya Urban Support Program.

    “We are glad to host you and show you our progress especially because we have no reason not to have achieved KUSP targets”, Mandago said. He was responding to ACAL Consulting’s James Kitonga on the importance of meeting UIG’s minimum conditions.
