… Read MoreAfter putting in place measures that fully worked on implementation of the urban planning Act; Zoning regulations and enforcement of compliance by all buildings in town, the County government of Uasin Gishu has realized an uplift such that there have been talks going round about Eldoret town being elevated to City status.
The County Government through the department of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development intends to partner with National Social Security Fund (Kenya) , National Housing Corporation and other housing institutions to redevelop the old municipal council houses to modern storey buildings that will optimize on land use.

UASIN GISHU SET TO RECEIVE URBAN DEVELOPMENT GRANTS
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson K. Mandago EGH, Thursday hosted a delegation from ACAL consulting at his offices. The team is in the county to hold meetings in collaboration with the County Department of Lands, Housing and Urban Planning for purposes of assessing Uasin Gishu’s progress in the implementation of the World Bank Funded Kenya Urban Support Program.
“We are glad to host you and show you our progress especially because we have no reason not to have achieved KUSP targets”, Mandago said. He was responding to ACAL Consulting’s James Kitonga on the importance of meeting UIG’s minimum conditions.

Expired and Repackaged Food Products Nabbed in Eldoret
Barely two weeks after Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Jackson Mandago nabbed a lorry that was offloading huge quantities of expired fish along Eldoret-Iten road, today Eldoret West OCPD Zacharia Bitok assisted by Uasin Gishu County quantity assurance officer Albert Cheruiyot arrested two directors from the Eldoret Packers Ltd who are alleged to have been selling expired foodstuffs.
Bitok said they got the tip-off from the mem bers of the public about unusual happenings at the factory and ambushed them.
